The department of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics is one of the oldest speciality in dentistry. It deals with correction of dental malocclusion and correction of skeletal deformity with growth modulation or surgical orthodontics. We believe in sculpting a better smile to lead a better life.

The department of Orthodontics was established in 2007 and was headed by eminent Prof. Dr. Lodd Mahendra till May 2023 and currently headed by Dr. Ramasamy. Department offers services in treating malocclusions with Removable orthodontic appliances, fixed orthodontic appliances, Growth modification through functional / orthopedic appliances, Periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontics, correcting of severe deformity through orthognathic like orthodontic treatment through miniscrew anchorage / orthodontic treatment assisted orthognathic surgery, clear aligners and so on.

Dr. M Ramasamy is a leading Orthodontist in Chennai City with more than 25 years of clinical experience. He completed his BDS from Annamalai University, and MDS in the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. He has more than 20 years of teaching experience. Currently he is Professor, and Head of Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Sri Venkateswara dental college and hospital. He has been appointed to the prestigious membership of the Senate, The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, as a nominee of the Government of Tamil Nadu, under the Sports category. He was a member of the Board of Studies (BoS) and Chairman, University Research Council (URC) in the same University.

He has completed his MBA & PHD in Orthodontics Dr. M.G.R. Educational & Research Institute. He is currently the President of Tamil Nadu Dental Council. He has numerous national and International publications to his credit. He is an ardent tennis player and fitness enthusiast.
